ANA HERNANDEZ

Interested in food from her early days, Ana’s family owned and operated an Italian restaurant in Guatemala, where she was raised. Later, she was educated at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena. After moving to their current home in St. Helena, the Hernandez family discovered the property was home to one of the oldest olive groves in Northern California, some of the trees dating back to the 1880s. After years of hard work coaxing the trees back to production capabilities, Ana founded a private label of olive oil called Monte Olivos. In 2019, upon hearing that the original owners of Grove 45 were looking to retire, Ana and her daughter Marcela decided to expand their olive oil business and purchased the brand and groves.

MARCELA HERNANDEZ

After graduating with a degree in business management and law from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, Marcela returned to St. Helena and joined her mom in the family business. The mother-daughter pair are now working to build one of California’s most premium olive oil brands, focusing on craft cultivation, specialty operations and premiere sourcing to produce the highest-quality extra-virgin olive oil, while preserving the brand and legacy of Grove 45.
